Mumbai Indians have fetched in Afghanistan spin magician Mujeeb Ur Rahman to replace injured AM Ghazanfar for IPL 2025.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman AM Ghazanfar was ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy and the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to a back injury. Afghanistan replaced AM Ghazanfar with Nangyal Kharote and now Mumbai Indians have replaced him with Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Mumbai Indians picked up him for RS. 2 Crores.
"Afghanistan's young spin-bowling sensation, AM Ghazanfar, has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to a fracture in the L4 vertebra, specifically in the left pars interarticularis," Afghanistan team confirmed via a statement.
"He sustained the injury during Afghanistan’s recently held tour Zimbabwe, and will be sidelined for a minimum of four months and will remain under treatment during this period.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman is also a worldwide famous spin to go in the various T20 leagues. The 23-year-old has claimed 275 wickets in 256 T20s at an economy of only 6.75. Mujeeb returns to IPL after missing the previous season due to an injury. Interestingly, it was Ghazanfar who replaced him in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad.
