Buttler highlighted Sudharsan’s work ethic and classical style of play, calling him a “special talent.”
Ahead of the match, Buttler spoke to broadcasters and reflected on both his own approach to chasing in T20 cricket and his admiration for Sudharsan.
“From day one, watching him (Sai Sudharsan) bat in the nets, I was blown away by his talent. He has an unbelievable work ethic and dedication, and he's getting the results as well. Very classical player. Hits the ball really hard. There's not a lot that can go wrong for him, as it looks like, with the way he plays. He's been very consistent this season and yeah, we need him to get going.” he added.
Speaking about his own match-winning knock earlier in the season against Delhi Capitals Buttler explained his mindset while chasing:
“I always try to see myself not out till the end and work back from there to the present moment. There were crucial partnerships as well. With Sherfane, we got going well, complementing each other. We imagined being not out till the end and worked back to what we needed to do at the present moment.” he said.
In Match 39 of IPL 2025, GT dominated the contest on a sluggish Eden Gardens pitch. A commanding 114-run opening stand between Shubman Gill (90) and Sai Sudharsan (52 off 36) laid the perfect platform for Gujarat to post a formidable 198/3.
The Titans' bowlers backed it up brilliantly, choking KKR’s chase and sealing a convincing 39-run victory.
