The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are gearing up for a strong comeback in the 2025 IPL season, having spent an impressive INR 75 crore to retain five key capped players.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
With Pat Cummins (INR18 crore), Abhishek Sharma (INR14 crore), Nitish Reddy (INR 6 crore), Heinrich Klaasen (INR 23 crore), and Travis Head (INR14 crore) on board, SRH has established a solid foundation for their lineup.
This leaves them with a substantial INR 45 crore remaining in their purse to navigate the IPL mega auction. SRH have one Right to Match (RTM) card available and they can specifically use for an uncapped player.
This opportunity allows the Orange Army to bring back a talented young player who could potentially fill a crucial role. In this listicle, we will now take a glimpse at three potential candidates whom SRH could target with their RTM card at the auction.
1. Abdul Samad
Abdul Samad has been an exciting young prospect with SRH in the past, known for his aggressive batting and his ability to clear the boundary with ease. Hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Samad’s power-hitting capability, particularly in the lower order, could provide SRH with the finishing strength they have sometimes lacked.
He has demonstrated his potential in limited opportunities, scoring 577 runs in 50 games at a strike rate of 146.1 and has also gained experience playing under pressure in the IPL.
2. Akash Singh
The left-arm pace option is often highly sought after in T20 cricket due to its variety, and Akash Singh could be the answer for SRH. Known for his early movement with the new ball, Akash has shown flashes of brilliance in the domestic circuit.
At just 23 years, he has the potential to develop into a key bowler in the team's lineup, especially in the powerplay overs where his swing and bounce could pose threats to opposition batters. Having played 8 games so far, he took five wickets in the IPL at an economy of 9.86.
3. Upendra Singh Yadav
The 28-year-old Kanpur-born cricketer is the reliable backup wicketkeeper-batter, SRH needs. He has earned a reputation in domestic cricket as a reliable wicketkeeper-batsman with a stable technique and the ability to score crucial runs.
As a backup option for Heinrich Klaasen, his inclusion would give SRH flexibility in case of an injury or if they need an additional keeper-batsman to balance the squad. He is yet to make his debut in the IPL but when opportunity comes knocking his door, he would look to prove his worth.
