In a positive development for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), fast bowler Avesh Khan has been cleared by the BCCI to participate in IPL 2025. Avesh, who had been recovering from a right knee issue, received approval from the BCCI medical team this week and will soon join the LSG squad.
Avesh has been out of action since late January, with his last appearance for India dating back to a T20I in South Africa last November. He also missed Madhya Pradesh's final league match in the Ranji Trophy due to discomfort in his right knee, attributed to his workload during the domestic season.
He underwent rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, where he reportedly completed one of his final fitness tests on Monday.
It remains uncertain when Avesh Khan will join the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad, but he is expected to be available for selection in their next game; an away fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 27 in Hyderabad.
LSG started their IPL 2025 campaign with a loss to Delhi Capitals (DC) on Monday in Visakhapatnam and will be looking to bounce back in their second match of the season.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have been dealing with a string of injuries to their key Indian fast bowlers. Mayank Yadav, who was already recovering from a lumbar stress injury, has now also picked up a toe injury. Bengal pacer Akash Deep is still working his way back to full fitness after a back injury he sustained during India's Test tour of Australia.
Meanwhile, left-arm quick Mohsin Khan has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear he suffered last December. LSG have brought in Shardul Thakur as his replacement.
