It can be clearly seen when the seats are left empty in the stadium, with only less percentage of tickets sold for the longest format of the game. Though the sport has a massive fan-following in India, the second Test at the MCA Stadium in Pune saw just 4,000 people. India won the Test series 2-0 and they are looking forward to completing a whitewash against Proteas at Ranchi that starts on October 19 at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi. Much to everyone's shock, not even 4% of the tickets are sold at a stadium with a capacity of 39,000. Just hours prior to the start of the Test, only 1500 tickets were sold despite them being priced at only Rs 250 a day. “Next time, maybe we have to think twice before hosting a Test match. At the same time, we can’t say no also. If the state associations start rejecting Test cricket, the purest form of the game would die. It’s very sad to see empty stands. We have to make certain changes to the Test format,” said Nafis Khan as quoted by the Indian express. Meanwhile, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has also pointed out the Day/Night Tests as the future of the game. But, with the cricketers alleging that the Pink ball went soft after the experiments in the Duleep Trophy during the night and also given that the dew factor also comes into play in the Indian conditions, Day/Night Tests do not seem to be a possibility.
