Bangladeshi pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib, known for his fiery bowling in domestic cricket, is set to make his debut in international franchise leagues. Stepping beyond the boundaries of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for the first time, Tanzim has secured a spot with the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the upcoming Global Super League. The opportunity came his way through South African cricket legend and current Guyana captain, Imran Tahir.
Imran Tahir, a stalwart in global franchise cricket, personally reached out to Tanzim via WhatsApp, extending the invitation. This development marks a significant milestone in Tanzim’s career, offering him the chance to test his skills on an international stage. Reflecting on the moment, Tanzim shared his excitement and determination to seize the opportunity:
"Imran Tahir bhai messaged me on WhatsApp, and we discussed things further. This is my first franchise league outside Bangladesh. If I perform well here, I believe many more opportunities will follow."
The pacer is also optimistic about the growth such exposure will bring to his game, emphasizing the learning curve that comes with playing franchise cricket. "I have always wanted to play in franchise leagues. It’s a great way to gain experience and maturity," said Tanzim, who is eager to make the most of this opportunity.
However, his participation in the Global Super League is contingent on receiving a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). While the BCB has expressed no objections to Tanzim's participation, the bowler, who has recently battled injuries, must prove his fitness before taking the field.
The Global Super League will feature top players from around the world, and Tanzim’s inclusion adds another feather to Bangladesh cricket’s cap. As part of the Guyana Amazon Warriors, Tanzim will share the spotlight with some of the biggest names in the sport, a testament to his growing reputation in the cricketing fraternity.
