Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq has been banned for 20 months for violating the terms of the International T20 League (ILT20) of the United Arab Emirates. The cricketer will not be able to participate in this tournament for the next 20 months due to this ban by the ILT20.

According to the ILT20 authorities, Naveen was supposed to play for Sharjah Warriors in this tournament as per the previous agreement. But he broke that agreement. Sharjah wanted to retain Naveen but Naveen rejected the offer. He will not be able to participate in the next 2 editions of ILT20 as per the ban period.

"We do not take pride in making this announcement but all parties are expected to comply with their contractual commitments and recognize that non-compliance can cause damage to the other party. Unfortunately, Naveen-ul-Haq failed to honour his contractual obligations with the Sharjah Warriors and as such the league had no option but to impose this 20-month ban on him,” David White, ILT20 CEO, stated in a release.

"The disciplinary proceedings against Naveen were conducted in a transparent manner and both parties involved were given opportunities to prepare and present their submissions."

However, this is not so big damage for Naveen as during the ILT20, South Africa's SA20 will take place, where this pacer will play for the Durban Super Giants. Durban Super Giants is also owned by the Indian Premier League team Lucknow Super Giants, for which Naveen plays in the world's most popular franchise league IPL.

The ILT20 authorities claim that they have tried mediation but failed. On the other hand, it is also claimed that there was no other way open to them except to ban Naveen.
