It is not difficult for India to form two national teams if it so chooses. In no way is it a falsehood. An eleven-member team consisting of those who did not make it into the T20 World Cup squad will most likely be more formidable than a significant number of the national teams who are competing in the T20 World Cup. Despite being in terrific form, the pacer T Natarajan was not selected for the World Cup team. This is one example of a cricket player who faced this situation.

The pacer, who is 33 years old, has represented India in one test match, two one-day internationals, and four Twenty20 Internationals. As the Indian Premier League (IPL) continues to play, he is performing really well. Being a member of the World Cup team was a possibility given the circumstances. However, in the end, the selectors were unable to award Natarajan a spot on the team because they were more concerned with placing an emphasis on spin.

However, Natarajan has no regrets. Rather, the fact that he was in talks to get a place in a highly competitive team like India, this is an achievement for him.

Natarajan said, “I was happy to even be part of the selection conversation. I have to thank God for that. After three years, they [selectors] are considering me and there was chatter around my potential selection. Whether I'm selected or not, it's not in my control. To be even part of the discussion is an achievement for me. If you want to climb to the top of a building, you have to take one step at a time. My focus is to execute well and help SRH win games. Not being selected for the World Cup hasn't disturbed me. I always believe that whatever is meant to happen will happen.”
