Pakistan Cricket Team left batter Haris Sohail has been ruled out of the first One-Day International (ODI) against New Zealand after suffering an injury in training in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

Haris Sohail has been ruled out of the first ODI against New Zealand due to shoulder pain, while Shan Masood is also struggling with a finger injury.

Middle-order batter Haris Sohail suffered a setback during field practice when he collided with teammate Shadab Khan, resulting in a shoulder injury. It's a blow to Haris Sohail, who was recently eliminated from the team due to fitness issues but was set to make a comeback in the upcoming One Day International against New Zealand.

Doctors nonetheless advised Haris Sohail to rest for the first leg and not risk his health by playing.

It was also revealed that Shan Masood had also suffered a thumb injury during training but X-rays showed it was not serious and he was cleared for the first game.

The first ODI match between Pakistan and New Zealand will be played in Rawalpindi on Wednesday as both teams would be looking to find their way to success in the ODI World Cup in less than six months.

Haris Sohail had also represented Pakistan at the 2015 and 2019 World Cups, so he would be looking to complete the hat-trick of World Cup appearances.
