BCB selector Hannan Sarkar says that Afif Hossain did not get a chance to play enough matches in international cricket. That’s why he has been included in the High Performance team for the Australia tour.

Afif Hasan played over 100 international matches for the national team. Still he is in the HP team. Asking about this, Hannan said, “If you say like this, then there can be many thinking. We three selectors took the decision after a lot of discussion. We tried to take advantage of the conditions. Afif has been away from internationals recently. He went with the team to the World Cup. He didn't get a chance to play. If you look at the number of regular matches Afif played, he didn't play as many matches as he was supposed to.”

Afif Hossain played 69 T20I matches for the national team. He holds the record for playing most consecutive T20 games (61 matches). "I didn't just mean T20I, I meant the whole international career. He is the ODI captain here, playing ODI and T20 both. So, we can think about Afif in T20 selection. After playing 61 matches, he is outside the team, that's an opportunity for him to prove himself."
