Apart from the Indian Premier League (IPL), the participation of Pakistani cricketers in franchise leagues of different countries is very common. All in all, a large number of cricketers play in franchise leagues as well as the national team. Recently, Pakistan have failed on the soil of Australia and New Zealand. Former Pakistani cricketer and team director Mohammad Hafeez blamed this failure on franchise cricket.

According to the news of Pakistani media Geo News, team director Hafeez sat in a meeting with PCB officials after returning home after completing Test in Australia and T20I series in New Zealand. Pakistan lost 3-0 in the three-Test series in Australia and 4-1 in the five-T20I series in New Zealand. In the meeting, Hafeez told PCB Interim Chairman Shah Khawar and Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseem that the players lacked focus on the matches during the tour. Their main focus was on participating in the ongoing franchise tournaments i.e. tournaments like BPL, ILT20.

On the other hand, five Pakistani cricketers have received PCB's NOC after complications over NOC (no-objection certificate). Aamir Jamal, Saim Ayub, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz and Akif Javed have been given NOC by the PCB. Among them, Saim and Hasnain sought NOC’s long ago.
