Gujarat Titans to wear purple jerseys against KKR for cancer awareness
They'll be showing their support for cancer patients by donning the same lavender jersey they wore last year. While lavender is most commonly associated with oesophageal cancer awareness campaigns, it is also used to represent cancer in general.

On May 13 at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, the Gujarat Titans (GT) will play host to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), but they won't be wearing their usual jersey—dark blue with yellow highlights.
Instead, they'll be showing their support for cancer patients by donning the same lavender jersey they wore last year. While lavender is most commonly associated with oesophageal cancer awareness campaigns, it is also used to represent cancer in general.
“The Gujarat Titans are taking a stand against cancer, stepping onto the field donning special lavender jerseys for the second year in a row. This gesture will serve as a reminder of the importance of early detection and access to quality care for improving outcomes in patients of cancer,” read the statement released by the franchise.
The project is part of a bigger effort to tackle the disease, which is the world's second largest cause of death, with an estimated 9.9 million fatalities in 2020. Cancer incidence in India has increased by 26% over the last decade, with a 12.8% increase expected by 2025 compared to 2020.
"Cancer affects countless lives, and the lavender jerseys are a small gesture on our part to the cause. The jerseys are a symbol of our support to cancer patients and survivors, serving as a reminder of the need for preventive measures and early diagnosis to win the battle against cancer. Together with our fans, we hope to create a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by cancer," Colonel Arvinder Singh, COO of Gujarat Titans, said.
