Marlon Samuels, a former West Indies cricketer, has been convicted of four breaches of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) anti-corruption code after an independent anti-corruption tribunal held a hearing.

Former West Indies player Marlon Samuels has been found guilty of four offenses under the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Anti-Corruption Code after a hearing by an independent anti-corruption tribunal.

In September 2021, the International Cricket Council (ICC), which acts as the designated anti-corruption officer under the ECB Code, charged Samuels. After deciding to exercise his right to a court hearing, he was found guilty.

Samuels, who was indicted by the ICC (in his capacity as anti-corruption officer-designate under the ECB Code) in September 2021, was found guilty after exercising his right to a tribunal hearing.

The tribunal will now consider each party's submissions before deciding on the appropriate sanction to be imposed. The decision will be made in due course.

Samuels was found guilty:

Article 2.4.2 (by Majority Resolution) – Failure to disclose to the Designated Anti-Corruption Officer receipt of any gift, payment, hospitality or other benefit made or granted under circumstances likely to endanger the competitor or the sport of cricket in disrepute.

Article 2.4.3 (Unanimous Decision) - Failure to Disclose Hospitality Valued at US$750 or More to the Appropriate Anti-Corruption Officer.

Article 2.4.6 (Unanimous Decision) – Failure to Cooperate in Investigation of Designated Anti-Corruption Officer.

Article 2.4.7 (Unanimous Decision) - Obstructing or delaying the investigation of the Anti-Corruption Officer-Designate by withholding information that may be relevant to the investigation.

Samuels played 71 Tests, 207 ODIs and 67 T20Is for the West Indies. During his international career between 2000 and 2018 he scored 11,134 runs and collected 152 wickets. Samuels was also banned for two years in 2008. Samuels was found guilty of leaking match information to a bookmaker as part of a bilateral series in the West Indies in February 2007. At the time, British newspaper The Guardian had reported that the matter was being taken up by the ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit, the world governing body called on the West Indies Cricket Board to conduct an investigation under the terms of its code of conduct
