India captain Rohit Sharma’s struggles with the bat continued as he was dismissed for just 18 runs on Day 1 of the third and final Test against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Friday, November 1. Despite being dropped on 16, Rohit failed to capitalize and was caught by Tom Latham at second slip off Matt Henry's bowling. India lost their first wicket with just 25 runs on the board.

The dismissal came in the seventh over when Matt Henry's short of a length delivery sharply bounced from a good length, catching Rohit by surprise. The ball squared him up as he attempted to flick it to the on-side, but it found the outside edge and was safely taken by Latham at slip. Rohit, who scored 18 runs off 18 deliveries, looked visibly frustrated as he walked back to the pavilion.
