Royal Challengers Bangaluru beat Gujrat Titans by 4 wickets on Saturday (4th May) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Mohammad Siraj and Yash Dayal's onburst with the ball bundled GT out for a paltry 147. In reply, RCB captain Faf du Plessis' swashbuckling 64 off only 23 deliveries sealed an easy win for RCB to keep their hope for top four qualification.
Faf and Kohli strung a glorious partnership to kill the chase inside the powerplay.
Earlier, being asked to bat first, GT had a horrible way to start their innings. Siraj removed both of the openers, Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill for cheaply. Green had Sai Sudarshan and GT were marginalised inside the powerplay. Shahrukh Khan played a great knock to steer the ship as he made a fine 37 off just 24 balls, while David Miller scored 30 off 20 balls. At the backend of the innings, Rahul Tewatia's brilliant 35 off only 21 balls helped GT post 147 on the board.
Mohamamd Siraj and Yash Dayal came out on top as both of them shared 2 wickets each. Vijaykumar Vyshak also had two wickets to his name. Karn Shamra and Green chipped away with 1 wicket.
In reply, RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis gave them a flying start. RCB openers killed the chase inside the powerplay. Faf played the accelerator role and was ripping through GT bowlers at bay. RCB scored 92 runs inside the powerplay without losing any wicket, which is the highest of all time for RCB. Faf Du Plessis notched up a fantastic fifty and scored 64 from 23 balls, while Virat Kohli scored 42 off 27 balls to seal the chase.
However, RCB had a massive collapse at the middle overs as they went to 117-6 from 92-0. But they managed to keep their nerve coola and chase down the total with over 6 overs to spare and 4 wickets in hands.
