Adelaide Strikers has signed England's stand-in Test captain for Big Bash|14 season. Pope might miss the opening match of Strikers due to three-match Test series in New Zealand.
Ollie PopePope, who became England Men's 82nd coach due to Ben Stokes' injury will be available for the Strikers following the end of their three-Test series in New Zealand.
Pope has strong credentials in T20's for Surrey, averaging 33.25, including a career best of 99* against Sussex. He has a strike rate of 130 in T20's, which will give a balance in the Strikers top order, which consists Chris Lynn, Matt Short, Jake Weatherald.
"Signing with the Adelaide Strikers is an incredible opportunity for me," Pope said in a statement.
"I've been watching the Big Bash since I was a kid, and it's always been a competition I've been eager to be a part of.
"Adelaide is such a fantastic city with a vibrant cricket culture, and the Adelaide Oval is one of the most iconic grounds in the world.
"The chance to rub shoulders with some incredible players and contribute to the team's success is something I'm truly excited about."
Adelaide Strikers BBL|14 squad (so far): James Bazley, Cameron Boyce, Jordan Buckingham, Alex Carey, Brendan Doggett, Chris Lynn, Lloyd Pope, Ollie Pope (direct overseas signing), Alex Ross, D'Arcy Short, Matt Short, Henry Thornton, Jake Weatherald.
Ollie Pope is currently playing against Sri Lanka for a three-match Test series and captaining the side due to the absence of regular skipper Ben Stokes.
