The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is going to add former West Indies captain Pollard to the coaching panel ahead of the T20 World Cup next year.

Pollard is called the peddler of T20. He has experience of playing 637 matches in this format of cricket. That is why Pollard is considered one of the most experienced cricketers in this format. However, after retiring from the Indian Premier League (IPL), he was appointed as the batting coach of the franchise.

However, this former Caribbean captain is still playing. Pollard is going to coach international cricket after the IPL. Basically 2024 T20 World Cup will be held in the West Indies and the USA.

That is why Pollard is going to be hired as a consultant, according to the report of the English daily 'The Telegraph'. Pollard knows the conditions at home very well. The England Cricket Board wants to use that experience.

“Pollard also brings an intimate knowledge of conditions in the West Indies. The Trinidadian will help England to assess the pitches in the T20 World Cup, which begins on June 4. He will play a similar role to Mike Hussey, the former Australian batsman, in the 2022 T20 World Cup victory,” a report in The Telegraph said.

The ECB has taken this decision mainly because of the recent ODI World Cup in India. ECB did not appoint any local coach or consultant for that World Cup. That's why ECB Managing Director Rob Key has taken responsibility for the team's failure.

Realizing the mistake, Rob Key decided to appoint a local cricketer with the England team for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
