Travis Head scored his third century while David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne scored 94 and 72 respectively. Meanwhile, during the second day of the Ashes Test on Thursday, England's prolific all-rounder Ben Stokes picked up an injury.
He sustained an injury while fielding during the 29th over of the game. The England international bowled only 9 overs in the day. He bowled five overs in the first session and followed it up with the remaining four in the rest of the day.
Meanwhile, England's bowling coach Jon Lewis came up with an update on the all-rounder's injury. He mentioned that the medical team will evaluate him overnight in a bid to check his fitness.
“Obviously, Ben has hurt himself on the field today so didn’t bowl full pace at the back end of the day. Think our medical guys will assess him overnight and see how he is. Other than that the guys are okay,” England bowling coach Jon Lewis said as quoted by India Today.
Before taking part in the Ashes series, Stokes took an indefinite break from cricket in order to focus on his mental health. He was also recovering from his injury. He did not feature in the second phase of the IPL and also skipped the Twenty20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, England still have a long way to go to catch up with Australia. They lacked intensity and killer instinct so far. Currently, Australia have the cutting edge over the visitors as they lead by 196 runs in the first innings. Travis Head is batting on 112 with the help of 12 fours and 2 sixes.
