Chennai Super Kings (CSK) physio Tommy Simsek has firmly denied reports suggesting that MS Dhoni punched a screen in frustration following CSK's defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) during a crucial match in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). The rumors gained traction after former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh mentioned the incident during an interview with Sports Yaari.
Harbhajan, who was on commentary duty for the match in Bengaluru, claimed to have witnessed Dhoni lose his temper, stating that the CSK skipper punched a screen outside the dressing room after RCB's victory. According to Harbhajan, Dhoni was visibly frustrated, a rare moment of emotion from the typically composed leader.
"RCB was celebrating and CSK had lined up to shake hands. By the time Team RCB finished their celebration, Dhoni went inside and punched a screen outside the dressing room. I was watching from above, but it’s okay, every player has his own emotions,” Harbhajan said.
However, CSK physio Tommy Simsek quickly refuted these claims, calling them "absolute rubbish" and dismissing the incident as fake news. Simsek responded to the circulating reports in an Instagram comment, defending Dhoni's calm demeanor and stating that the legendary captain has never shown such aggression after a match.
"This is absolute rubbish! MSD did not break anything, and I have never seen him aggressive after any match. Fake news!" Simsek said.
