Zimbabwe were crushed by the Tigers on Saturday as they suffered a huge defeat of 145 runs. But Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura expressed his optimism to stage a comeback in the very next match, saying they are here to win and not to lose.
Following their defeat at the Sher-e-Bangla Bangla National Stadium on Saturday, Chigumbura took part in a press briefing where he said, "We are not here to lose only. We have come here in Bangladesh with a view to winning; and hopefully we will be able to pick up that win in the very next match."
With today's defeat, the Zimbabweans are now 1-0 down in the series and winning the penultimate match on Monday is now a must for them. But ahead of the match when he was asked to analyse the reasons behind today's defeat, Chigumbura showed two points : the lack of application on the field and the Shakib Al Hasan!
Chigumbura said that had they been able to apply their plannings properly on the field, the result of the match could have been different. And they are very much capable of winning what they showed in the previous match against BCB XI. But according to the Zimbabwe captain, what made the difference on the field was none othet than the ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.
"Shakib utilized the most of his experience today, which proved way too much for us," said Chigumbura. To be noted, the maverick all-rounder could score only 9 with the bat today but the recorded his first ever five-wicket haul with the ball and finished with the figure of 5 for 43.
