Rohit Sharma was compelled to play as an Impact Player for Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday due to "mild back stiffness."
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Piyush Chawla stated, "He just had a slight back stiffness, so it was more of a precautionary measure."
Rohit managed to score 11 runs off 12 balls as MI fell short in chasing down a target of 170 on the unpredictable Wankhede pitch. This defeat marked their eighth loss in 11 games, leaving them in ninth position and with their playoffs hopes hanging by a thread. When questioned about MI's remaining motivation, Chawla responded frankly.
"For the pride and the reputation," he said, "because sometimes when you enter on the field, you don't think whether you are going to qualify or you are not going to qualify. You have to play for your name and that's what we are playing for."
