As the announcement of Team India's 2024 T20 World Cup squad approaches, speculation has intensified regarding the players vying for the final 15 spots. The ongoing Indian Premier League holds significant importance for all contenders, including the returning wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant.

After more than 14 months away from the game due to a near-fatal car accident in December 2022, the captain of the Delhi Capitals returned to competitive cricket in this year's IPL. Despite the added responsibilities of leadership and wicketkeeping, Pant showed no signs of rustiness upon his comeback. He has already scored two half-centuries in DC's initial six matches, accumulating a total of 194 runs at an impressive strike rate of 157.72.

Pant currently leads the run-scoring chart for the Capitals in the current season. Former England pacer Stuart Broad advocates for Pant to take on the role of India's wicketkeeper-batter in the upcoming T20 World Cup in June.

Broad said,“The selection for the Indian team is up in the air a little bit. You have some players pending in that team. Rishabh Pant's probably the one on whom there's a lot of discussion about. There was a shot I saw him play against KKR, a no-look flick over deep square leg for six. The moment he played that shot, I thought, he has got to be in that T20 World Cup squad. He's ready. He's good to go,”
