West Indies' legend Brian Lara has continued to back Virat Kohli amid the latter's struggles in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. The swashbuckling batsman registered a string of single-digit scores in the group stages of the marquee event in New York.
Virat Kohli scored 29 runs in 4 games in T20 WC 2024Before he could assess the conditions, he fell prey to the bowlers for cheap scores. The cricket fraternity expected him to up the ante in the Super 8. Nevertheless, he failed to make a telling impact in the recently-concluded game against Afghanistan in Barbados.
Kohli scored 24 off 24 balls before he was dismissed by Rashid Khan. While speaking to the Star Sports, the former West Indies captain reckons that India have gotten a step closer to winning the title.
Furthermore, he added that Kohli will go from strength to strength in the Caribbean islands. The West Indies' batting great is of the notion that Kohli will unleash his fury in the games to come.
"24 off 24, you can say that’s not great but the most important thing is that he spent some time out there. India has got one step closer to winning this trophy. I believe that Virat Kohli is just gonna go from strength to strength as he comes down to the Caribbean. He’s going to Antigua next, you’re gonna see him go out there and plough and plough, he’s gonna get runs," he said.
During the same interaction, Lara said, "When he gets into full swing, it’s a different story. We just have to be very patient with him, we’re gonna see a lot of him there’s still a lot of games left in this World Cup."
Virat Kohli scored 29 runs in four games so far in T20 World Cup 2024. He will be next seen in action in the upcoming clash against Bangladesh on June 22, Saturday at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
