Former West Indian batting legend Brian Lara believes his undefeated Test total of 400 will be overtaken in the near future. The left-handed master credits this likelihood to the aggressive mentality of today's batters, naming Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Zak Crawley, and Harry Brook as possible record-breakers.

Lara, reflecting on his iconic record, acknowledged that during his era, explosive players like Virender Sehwag were capable of threatening his world record. Sehwag, known for his aggressive style, came close with a couple of triple centuries for India.

“There were players in my time who challenged, or at least went past the 300-run mark—Virender Sehwag, Chris Gayle, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Sanath Jayasuriya. They were pretty aggressive players,” Lara was quoted as saying by The Daily Mail.

He further elaborated on the current crop of aggressive players who might break his record. “How many aggressive players do you have playing today? Especially in the England team. Zak Crawley and Harry Brook. Maybe in the Indian team? Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill. If they find the right situation, the records could be broken - both of them,” he added.

Brian Lara's 400* against England in 2004 remains the highest-ever score in a Test inning. Additionally, Lara holds the record for the highest individual tally in first-class cricket with an unbeaten 501 during a match in 1994.
