Their batting lineup, particularly the opening pair, has been struggling, forcing the team to depend heavily on their strong pace bowling attack.

During India's pursuit of 111 runs against USA, opener Rohit Sharma fell early, scoring just three runs off six balls. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, who has struggled to find form in this tournament, was dismissed without scoring, facing a golden duck. In this challenging run chase, India relied on Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube to guide them across the finish line.

Rohit has experienced a dip in form. While he began the tournament positively with a half-century, he has struggled to maintain momentum since then. On the other hand, Kohli has posted scores of 1 (off 5 balls), 4 (off 3 balls), and a golden duck.

Several fans have been advocating for the inclusion of left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal alongside Rohit, and for Kohli to return to his original position at number three.

Meanwhile, West Indies legend Brian Lara believes that Rahul Dravid should stick with his opening pair of Rohit and Kohli, considering their impressive track record.

"Definitely, India had the option to play a left-right opening partnership. They went with two great players, two guys who’ve done a great job for India with the bat for their individual franchise as well in terms of the captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. I think they’ve got to stick with it as you just said if you do make changes on top, Virat Kohli has to come in the order a little bit lower and that’s going to upset things there," Lara said.

"I believe that the combination India is having and India has to back the two of them. At some point in time, they’re going to come good with conditions, the batting conditions in the USA were not the very best. I don’t believe you start making changes especially if you’re winning," Lara added.
