Scotland got a massive victory over Oman to reach the super six from group A along with the powerhouse Sri Lanka and Oman. They had beaten Oman by a big margin of 76 runs on Sunday (25th June) at Bulawayo Athletic Club, Bulawayo.

Oman winning the toss and elected to bowl first against Scotland. Immediately Oman drew the firsr blood as Bilal Khan’s peach trapped Christopher Mcbride for LBW for a 3 ball duck. But then a 82 run stand changed the scenario of the game. Wk batter Matthew Cross and number three batter Brandon McMullen put on 82 run stand at 3rd wicket partnership before Cross was knocked over by Jay Odedra on his individual 27 off 55 deliveries.

Skipper Richie Berrington and McMullen then steered the ship and the duo added 138 run partnership. But a run out got the wicket of Berrington on his individual 60 off 62. But McMullen was indomitable and he kept smacking with his all prowess. He notched up his hundred and made a majestic knock of 136 off 121 to help Scotland score 320 in alloted 50 overs.

Chasing this massive total, Oman lost Kashyap for 12 off 32. The opener Jatinder Singh played one of the worst innings ever in a high scoring run chase like this as Jatindar scored 14 consuming 44 deliveries. Number three batter Aqib Ilyas semeed to be fluent and made 31 off 37. Mohammad Nadeem played with under 50 strike rate as he took 31 balls to score only 15. Basically their batters had been sedate and slow which costed them the match. Some brilliant hits from Naseem Khushi helped Oman pass 200 mark barrier and reduce the deficit to 76 runs.
