BPL 2025: Local direct signings and retentions finalized ahead of players' draft
Newcomer Dhaka Capitals has made a strong start, signing pace star Mustafizur Rahman, who previously played for Comilla Victorians. Along with Mustafizur, young opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim has also been brought on board through direct signing.

As the excitement for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 builds up, teams have started solidifying their lineups ahead of the players' draft scheduled for October 14. Franchises were given the opportunity to either retain players or sign new ones directly before the draft, and 18 Bangladeshi cricketers have already been secured by various teams.
Newcomer Dhaka Capitals has made a strong start, signing pace star Mustafizur Rahman, who previously played for Comilla Victorians. Along with Mustafizur, young opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim has also been brought on board through direct signing.
Chittagong Kings, another team making a fresh start in this BPL season, signed national team all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and pacer Shoriful Islam. Although the franchise participated in the early days of BPL, they’re returning with a renewed roster.
Defending champions Fortune Barishal retained two of their top stars, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim. Tamim, who led the team to victory in the previous season, will continue his captaincy, while the franchise also directly signed rising talent Towhid Hridoy.
Sylhet Strikers, meanwhile, released national team captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and retained Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Zakir Hasan. They further strengthened their squad by signing Jaker Ali Anik through a direct contract.
For Khulna Tigers, Nasum Ahmed and Afif Hossain have been retained, and they have added Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the all-rounder who played a crucial role in Fortune Barishal's last season’s triumph.
Rangpur Riders retained their captain Nurul Hasan Sohan and bowler Sheikh Mehedi Hasan. They also secured pacer Mohammad Saifuddin, who played for Barishal in the previous season, as a direct signing.
Durbar Rajshahi, one of the newly introduced teams this season, secured opener Anamul Haque Bijoy and promising batter Zishan Alam through direct signings.
The BPL 2024 Players Draft will take place on October 14 in Dhaka, where each team will have the opportunity to complete their squads by adding local talent. Franchises are allowed to sign between 10 and 14 Bangladeshi players in total, with a maximum spending cap of BDT 4 crore for local players. The BPL governing council has already set base prices for all draft players.
