Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club beat Brothers Union by 31 runs (DLS) in a rain affected match in the Dhaka Premier League on Sunday (7th April). Due to heavy rain, the match was reduced to 43 overs in the second innings. Rohanat Doullah Borson had a great outing both with the bat and ball to hand Rupganj Tigers a fine win.

Brothers Union won the toss and opted to field first. Rupganj didn’t have a great way to start their innings. Both of the openers were removed just after 8 runs. They had a mild collapse at the top of the order but Forhad Hossain and Shamshur Rahman Shuvo strung a partnership. But Forhad got out on 25 off 44 balls.

Shamshur was going steadily and eventually notched up a fifty. Shamshur scored a 57 run knock of 80 balls. And then Rahnat Doullah Borson scored 21 run innings at the backend of the match. Rupganj were all out for 149 runs off 39.1 overs.

In reply, Borson got Rahmatullah for a duck. Imtiaz Hossain and Rahatul Ferdous handled the initial blow. But couldn’t go for big as Rahatul got out on 16, while Imtiaz scored just 22 run knock.

At the middle Abdul Mazid tried to salvage the situation but holed out cheaply. Due to rain the target was set to 148 runs off 43 overs.
But after the departure of Abdul Mazid, Rupganj Tigers kept losing wickets at the regular intervals and hence they were bowled for 116 runs and lost the game by 31 runs (DLS). This is the maiden win for Rupganj Tigers in this season of DPL, while Abahani Limited topping the chart.
