The 14th season of the Big Bash League (BBL) begins on December 15, 2024 and following the tournament's draft in September, there have been several notable moves, squad changes and updates ahead of this highly anticipated season.

The highly anticipated 14th edition of the Big Bash League begins on December 15 with the opening match of the Perth Scorchers against the Melbourne Stars at Optus Stadium. The final of the competition will be held on January 27, 2025.

A total of 44 matches will be played in the tournament over the course of 43 days. The tournament has been shortened compared to the last edition. 40 league matches will be followed by the qualifier, the knockout match, the challenger match and the final. The playoffs will begin on January 21.

8 teams will participate in the Big Bash League, namely Brisbane Heat, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Adelaide Strikers, Perth Scorchers, Hobart Hurricanes, Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder.

The teams will play each other once in a round-robin format. The teams that finish in the top two spots will face each other in the qualifier on January 21, while the teams in third and fourth spots will face each other in the knockout match on January 22. The loser of the qualifier and the winner of the knockout match will then face each other in the challenger match on January 24. The winner of that match will then play the winner of the qualifier in the final on January 27.
