India's Shashank Manohar has been the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) for two terms. The infamous 'Big Three' policy was abolished during his tenure. Shashank Manohar was due to step down as ICC chairman next June. However, due to coronavirus crisis, he will have to stay in the post for two more months. Meanwhile, there is already speculation about who will be the new chairman. At first it was thought that the name of the chairman will be the Hong Kong Cricket Board’s chairman Imran Khawaja. But full member nations objected as Hong Kong being an associate member of ICC. This opportunity was taken by the three big nations led by India. They fielded Colin Graves, chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Graves' term as ECB chairman ends in November this year. The BCCI is working to support him. How much the Indian board is afraid of Shashank Manohar has become clear in the words of a board official. On condition of anonymity, an official told one of India's top media,

"Nothing can be said until Shashank Manohar steps down. His term is not over yet. So if he changes his mind at the last moment, then everything will change.”

The BCCI hopes that Graves will not disappoint them. The BCCI official added, "England, Australia, New Zealand and the West Indies will support Graves' nomination. The BCCI, the world's richest cricket board, also has a good relationship with Graves. However, the BCCI has not yet officially announced its support for anyone.”
