An important development in the case against Mohammedan Sporting Club captain Towhid Hridoy is that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially reinstated his new one-match suspension, which was originally given for breaching conduct, but has delayed its enforcement for 12 months. This means that he can continue playing in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) 2024–25.

The move comes after the Technical Committee of the DPDCL declared the April 19 memo issued by the Umpires Committee “null and void”, citing violations of procedural protocol and inconsistency with technical regulations.

While the original two-match ban has been restored in accordance with league guidelines, the Technical Committee chose a measured response—delaying the suspension for one year—to minimize disruption to the current season and to maintain competitive balance.

“This considered approach was adopted to uphold the integrity of the game, support the continuity of the tournament, and promote unity within the cricketing community,” stated the BCB.

The suspension stems from an on-field altercation involving Hridoy and a match official during a DPDCL fixture. Though disciplinary action was initially taken, it was controversially reduced to one match by the Umpires Committee—an action later ruled unauthorized.

The BCB clarified that, under Clause 14 of the General Information issued by the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM), only the Technical Committee has the authority to amend or enforce disciplinary codes.

The BCB wants to make sure that code of conduct violations are handled in a clear, consistent, and fair way by confirming this rule and overturning the Umpires Committee's previous decision.
