Basit endorsed Rizwan’s leadership abilities after watching him captain the Markhors against the Stallions in the Champions One-Day Cup.

Basit Ali highlighted Mohammad Rizwan's exceptional ability to assess and understand pitch conditions, a skill he believes sets Rizwan apart from others. According to Basit, neither Babar Azam nor Test captain Shan Masood possess this particular strength in their repertoire. He emphasized that Rizwan's sharp cricketing mind and keen pitch-reading abilities give him a strategic edge, which could be crucial for Pakistan's success under his leadership. Basit's praise for Rizwan's tactical awareness strengthens his argument for why the wicketkeeper-batter is well-suited to take over the captaincy.

"The way Rizwan led the side, he proved there is no better skipper than him. He has shown it with his captaincy. He read the pitch; it is a big thing. Even Babar can't do that. I am not even talking about Shan. If you don't make him captain at this time, then it is a loss for Pakistan. This is the best time you should make Rizwan the captain," Basit said on his YouTube channel.
