"It is a big relief, to be honest. We did not have a good Test series and we all know that was not our way of playing cricket. We always start criticising the team even on the slightest of mistakes, which I think is not right," Bashar was quoted as saying by Dhaka Tribune.
With less than a year left before the next ICC Cricket Wolrd, the national selector feels it is important for the side to do well in the shorter format of the game. "These are the players who have been performing for us for a long time now. I am happy with the fact that we have done well in our best format. It is important for us to do well in ODIs, given we have the World Cup next year," said Bashar to the media at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Monday.
Meanwhile, the former Bangladesh batsman also admitted they still have reasons to be worried about the side's performance in Test cricket. "I am happy but still we need to think about our Test performance. We need to work on this format to get good results in the matches we have ahead," he concluded.
