Bangladesh pacer Ebadot Hossain is likely to miss the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup after sustaining an injury just before the Asia Cup.

Ebadot will undergo knee surgery at the Cromwell Hospital in London today. The 29-year-old right-arm fast sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury to his left knee during the ODI series against Afghanistan last month.

Ebadot said that he is undergoing surgery for the first time in his life. He wrote on Facebook, First time in my life. Operation Theatre…..Please pray for me…..Allah Vhorosa.”

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Senior Physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury informed about the latest update regarding Ebadot. However, Debashis has not yet given any details about whether he will be out of the World Cup or not.

“Ebadot consulted a knee specialist in London this week. Upon extensive review of his condition, it was decided that Ebadot would undergo a LEFT ACL reconstruction and meniscal repair,” he said.

“At this stage, we are not in a position to provide further details including the rehab process and expected timeframe for recovery. However, we are fully committed to helping and supporting the player in every way possible in his journey towards returning to cricket,” Debashis added.
