The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to take place in the UAE from October 3. The squad, led by captain Nigar Sultana Joty, is a blend of experienced players and young talents, aiming to make a significant impact on the global stage.

Nigar Sultana Joty, a consistent performer for Bangladesh, will once again lead the team. Alongside her, the squad features seasoned campaigners like all-rounder Ritu Moni, the dependable Fahima Khatun, and pace bowler Jahanara Alam. Jahanara’s experience in international cricket will be crucial in leading the fast-bowling attack, while spinner Nahida Akter will be key in the slower conditions expected in the UAE.

Young talents like Shorna Akter, Marufa Akter, and Rabeya Khan have been given a chance to showcase their skills in the World Cup, adding depth to Bangladesh’s squad.  The inclusion of players like Sobhana Mostary and Murshida Khatun bolsters Bangladesh’s batting lineup, while uncapped Taj Nehar, Sultana Khatun, and Disha Biswas complete the squad as promising all-rounders, giving the team much-needed balance in all departments.

Currently, some of the squad players including Nigar Sultana Joty, Fahima Khatun, Jahanara Alam, Marufa Akter are in Sri Lanka with Bangladesh A women’s team as they prepare to face tough opposition in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
