Pakistani captain Babar Azam has once again made his mark in the record books, this time surpassing a milestone previously achieved by India's Virat Kohli.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam has broken the record as the fastest captain with 2,000 ODI runs. Azam completed the feat in just 31 innings, breaking the previous record held by Indian Virat Kohli, who took 36 innings to reach the mark.
Last week, in the opening game of the Asia Cup, Babar scored a superb 151 from just 131 balls, overtaking South African star Hashim Amla and becoming the fastest player in the game's history to score 19 ODI centuries.
Babar achieved the feat after just 102 ODI innings, with Amla holding the previous top score of 104 innings. The world's top ODI batsman hit 14 fours and four massive sixes during his entertaining innings, leading to more records.
Previously, Babar Azam was the fastest player in the world to complete 19 ODI centuries in terms of innings.
The world No.1 ODI batsman had reached the milestone in the opening match of the 2023 Asia Cup against Nepal at Multan Cricket Stadium.
The batsman demonstrated his class and consistency on the pitch, cementing his reputation as one of the finest modern cricketers.
