Former Pakistan Test cricketer Azhar Ali has achieved another milestone in his cricket career at the current edition of County Champions in England.

Former Pakistani cricketer Azhar Ali, who is currently representing Worcestershire, has achieved a major milestone during the county season.

The veteran batsman has become the 17th Pakistani cricketer to hit 16,000 first-class runs. He achieved that feat against Sussex, where he scored 103* and the game ended in a draw.

Azhar Ali is Pakistan's fifth-best runs scorer in red ball cricket, scoring 7,142 runs in 97 games with an average of 42.26, including 19 centuries and 35 half centuries.

The 37-year-old cricketer is also the only Pakistani batsman to hit a triple hundred with a pink ball in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) against West Indies in 2016.

With this feat, Azhar joins the ranks of legendary Pakistani cricketers like Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq, who both accomplished this feat in 2016.

Azhar Ali's performance is a testament to his incredible talent and endurance in the sport.

Recently, Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace praised Worcestershire's Azhar Ali, calling him a "world-class player in all conditions" after his brilliant century in last week's county championship draw.

"Azhar is an outstanding player and he showed on Sunday that he is a world-class player in all conditions," he said.

Last year the middle-order batsman hit an unbeaten 202 of 329 balls on Matchday 2 against Leicestershire in the county using 18 fours and a six.

Azhar, who was the only guest opener to score a double-hundred at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), has netted 312 runs in the second division of the current edition so far.

In 2022, the former Pakistan captain announced his retirement from long-distance play after the third friendly against England.

With 7,097 runs in 96 games and a 42.49 average, Azhar is Pakistan's fifth-best Test run getter behind Younis Khan (10,099), Javed Miandad (8,832), Inzamam-ul-Haq (8,829) and Mohammad Yousuf (7,530).

In 2010, Azhar made his Test debut in England against Australia at Lord's aged 25, scoring his first Test half-century in just his second game. He hit another 34 half-centuries and surpassed the 100-run mark on 19 occasions.

Azhar, 37, is the only Pakistani batsman to score a triple century in a pink ball Test - a feat he achieved in Dubai in 2016 against the West Indies. That unbeaten 302 remains his highest score in Test cricket.
