Australia is looking for a third spinner in the T20 World Cup squad. The Aussies want to go to the World Cup with another spinner in the squad along with Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell. Aussies are interested in taking additional spinner considering the conditions in West Indies and USA.
Left-arm spinner Ashton Agar has not been included in Cricket Australia's recently announced 23-man central contract. However, he is considering the World Cup. Ajira wants a third spinner in the 15-man squad, assuming the World Cup conditions will help the spinners. Australia Chief Selector George Bailey said this.
While talking to the media, Bailey said, 'The balance in the squad may require a second (specialist) spinner. Glenn Maxwell is now not considered a part-time spinner, but a main spinner. This is difficult for many to accept. Hence Zampa must be there. As a result, I think one more (spinner) will have a chance here.
Bailey added, "We will get together again at the end of April to form the squad and there will be opportunities for Marcus Stoinis and Ashton Agar."
Agar has taken 48 wickets in international T20. Which is second highest for Australia. Zampa has the most wickets of 92. Agar last played T20 for Australia in 2022 T20 World Cup.
