But in second test, he has been tested negative for Covid-19 which is obviously a good news for his NCL team Barishal Division. Ashraful himself confirmed the news on Monday (March 29).
"Alhamdulillah, I came to know few times ago that I’m tested coronavirus negative. It was positive on March 27’s test. I thought the result would come yesterday, but it was given today,” he said.
"I took the vaccine for Covid on March 21. Then I played a match. I have been waiting for a long time for the NCL. The hope was that I would be able to play well throughout the tournament. After taking the vaccine on the 21th, everyone's body was a little weak, which is why the boys could not give 100% in the first match,” he added.
Ashraful could not play in the second round match against Rajshahi as it has already started today and his sample’s result was given after that. Despite playing a 48-run innings in the first match, he did not make it to the second round due to the delay in giving the results of the coronavirus test. However, Ashraful asked for blessings from the people.
"I could not able to play in the second round due to the late result of Covid test. However,Alhamdulillah it came as negative. There was a news that I came positive in coronavirus test. I was 100% sure that there was no sign of coronavirus in my body. I may not be able to play in this match, but I pray that I can do something good in the next match,” the 36-year old Ashraful concluded.
