Archer and Smith were involved in an epic battle.[/caption]
There was an intense battle between Steve Smith and Jofra Archer in the second Test and it continued till Smith was hit off a bouncer from Archer right on the neck. However, Smith denied agreeing that Archer won the battle against him as he failed to pick up his wicket.
"There’s been a bit of talk that he’s got the wood over me, but he hasn’t got me out. He hit me on the head on a wicket that was a bit up and down. All the other bowlers have had more success against me, I dare say. I’ve faced them a bit more but they’ve all got me out a lot more, so, yeah, pretty comfortable about that," he said yesterday.
Meanwhile, Archer didn't take too long to reply to the statement. He gave a cheeky reply to his IPL team-mate.
"Well, I can’t get him out if he wasn’t there. I did want to bowl at him when he came back out [at Lord’s] but he was out before I even got to come back on. But there’ll be more than ample time to get him out."
Smith is most likely to make the comeback in the fourth Test as he looks fit and ready to go. He is currently playing in the practice match against Derbyshire. So it's safe to say that the battle between Archer and Smith is on.
