South Africa Women's beat Australia Women's by 8 wickets to reach to the finals of ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024. Economical bowling from the Protea women helped them restrict Australia for a below par total of 134 runs. In reply, Anneke Bosch smashed a sensational 74* off 48 balls to steer Protea over the line with 8 wickets in hands and more than 2 overs to spare.
Anneke Bosch hammered 74* off 48 balls to blow away Australia Women's and assist her side to reach to the final.
Being inserted to bat first, Australia didn’t have a solid way to start their innings, losing Grace Harris cheaply. Georgia Wareham then fell to Marizannne Kapp and Australia were in deep trouble. However, opener Beth Mooney and stand-in captain Tahila McGrath stitched up a gritty partnership for 50 runs before captain's departure. Mooney too couldn’t shift the gears and fell earlier.
Once again, ace all-rounder Ellyse Perry and Phoebe Lichfield partnered up together for a brisk 35 run stand off 19 balls to help the defending champions get 134 on the board.
In reply, South Africa had a steady start as their opening stand added 25 runs before Annabel Sutherland knocked over Tazmin Brits. But captain Laura Wolvaardt and No. 3 batter Anneke Bosch smashed the Aussie bowlers ins and outs.
They were on a mission and they stitched up for a match turning 96-run stand for 65 balls, whereas Anneke Bosch blasted an outstanding 74 off only 48 balls, including 8 boundaries and a sixer. While captain Laura Wolvaardt supported Anneke and made a gritty 42 off 37 balls to help her side reach to the finals. This is the second time that the Protea Women's are into the Final of ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
