West Indies have bounced back strongly in the third and final Test against England. West Indies posted a competitive 282 on the board with the help of Kraigg Brathwaite [61], Jason Holder [59] and Joshua Da Silva's [49]. In reply, Jayden Seales and Alzarri Joseph dented England with three quick wickets to reel England at 38-3 after the day 1 of Edgbaston Test.
Choosing to bat first, the West Indies openers had a decent partnership together to make a solid statement. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite and Mikyle Louis had 76 runs opening stand before Gus Atkinson removed the latter one after his gritty 26 off 61 deliveries. But the captain was going flawlessly and was dealing in boundaries. He scored a solid 61 off only 86 deliveries before departing to Mark Wood.
After the opening partnership, West Indies had a mild collapse in their middle order but vital contributions from Joshua Da Silva and Jason Holder helped them steer the ship once again. The duo had a vital 109 run stand with Silva scoring 49 and Holder made a gutsy 59. West Indies finished their innings on 282 on the board.
Gus Atkinson once again was the standout English bowler with his 4-fer, while Chris Woakes had 3 wickets in his comeback Test. Mark Wood picked up 2 wickets and Shoaib Bashir had one.
In reply, Jayden Seales and Alzarri Joseph ran riot through the English top order to remove the top three in a jiffy. Seales removed Crawley and Wood, while Joseph had Duckett.
England are on 38-3 with Joe Root and Ollie Pope are on the crease. They're trailing West Indies by 244 runs. West Indies had a tremendous start with the new ball and they'll be hoping to make the ball talk in the tomorrow morning. While England will be eyeing to make foundation with Pope and Root in the pursuit of 282.
