Ireland beat Zimbabwe by 6 wickets and 10 balls to spare to win the third match and the series by 2-1 on Sunday (10th December) at Harare Sports Club, Harare. Harry Tector's gritty 54 off 35 deliveries and Dockrell's quick-fire 49 off 32 deliveries helped Ireland chase down Zimbabwe's total comfortably.
Ireland seemed to be in big trouble earlier on. As they were stuttering for 37-4. But Docrkell and Tector combined an unbeaten partnership of 104 to bury down the dreams of Zimbabwe. Dockrell in particular played a real gem of an innings as he snatched the game away from Zimbabwe. On the contrary, Tector found difficult to get his groove but he took time and settled himself in and then stitched a match saving partnership with Dockrell.
Earlier, Ireland won the toss and opted to bowl first. Coming out to bowl, Joshua Little removed Kamunhukamwe earlier of the innings. Delany then picked up two straight wickets and left Zimbabwe stuttering for 44-3. Ryan Burl and Clive Mandande then stitched a fine partnership of 50 runs but when they tried to up the ante but couldn’t do it as Joshua Little and Craig Young removed them both.
At the backend of the innings, Jongwe's little cameo of 13 from 9 deliveries helped Zimbabwe post 140 after 20 overs. Which Ireland chased down comfortably later on.
