With the fall of the authoritarian Awami League government, significant changes have taken place in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). After Nazmul Hassan Papon stepped down, Faruque Ahmed has taken charge as the new BCB President. The former Youth and Sports Minister Papon has been replaced by Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, who now serves as the Youth and Sports Advisor under the interim government.

The interim government is being led by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who previously oversaw the 2024 Paris Olympics using his innovative social business model. Dr. Yunus's team has also played a role in shaping the revamped Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), creating anticipation for an exciting, restructured tournament.

For the first time, a National Cricket League (NCL) T20 tournament was held as a precursor to BPL 2025, giving players valuable match practice before the main event. All-rounder Afif Hossain, representing Khulna Tigers, praised this initiative during a press conference.

Afif said, "To speak about on-field cricket, the NCL T20 tournament before BPL is a good step. Previously, we prepared for BPL through practice sessions only, which is quite different from actual matches. Playing in NCL T20 before BPL is a big positive. It's a major change, and for players, this is a huge opportunity."

Khulna Tigers will begin their BPL campaign on December 31 against the Chittagong Kings. The Tigers, bolstered by improved preparations and promising players like Afif Hossain, aim to make an impactful start to the tournament.
