Afghanistan are still struggling in Test cricket, the elite format of cricket. In all, they have played only 7 Tests so far, 1 after April 2021. However, the Afghans are getting a chance to play more Test matches in the coming February.

Afghanistan are more regular in limited-overs cricket. As a result, they rarely play Test cricket. However, Afghans will play two bilateral series in February. Test matches have been kept in both series. Afghanistan will first play against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka and then against Ireland in the United Arab Emirates. Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) recently announced the schedule of these two series.

Afghanistan's busy schedule will begin with a Test match against Sri Lanka in Colombo on February 2. This is going to be Afghanistan's first Test match against Sri Lanka. After one Test, the Afghans will play three ODI and three T20I series with the Lankans. Three ODI series will be held in Colombo, T20I series will be played in Dambulla.

The Sri Lanka series will end with the third T20I on February 21. After that, the Afghans will play a series against the Irish in the United Arab Emirates from February 28. The only Test match of the series will start on February 28. After that, Afghanistan and Ireland will play three ODIs and three T20Is. The series will end with the third T20I on March 18. The Test match will be held in Abu Dhabi, while all other matches will be played in Sharjah.
