Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed the news on Wednesday. Raju will join the team on Friday. Bangladesh team including 12 players left Dhaka on Tuesday.
A BCB release said: "Right-arm paceman Abul Hasan Raju has been named as Mustafizur Rahman’s replacement in the Bangladesh squad for next month’s Twenty20 International series against Afghanistan in Dehradun,
. Mustafiz was ruled out of the tour after picking up an injury to his left foot."
Skipper
will join squad on Thursday while
will join after World XI's charity T20I. Raju and Tamim will miss a warm-up game in Dehradun on Friday.
Raju has been impressive in shorter format in domestic cricket. He took 10 wickets at an economy rate of 8.13 and an average of 24.40 for Sylhet Sixers in last year's Bangladesh Premier League.
Raju made his T20I debut in 2012. He has taken only two wickets in four T20Is. He will be playing in this format after almost 6 years. He last played for Bangladesh against
in a tri-series match in January this year.
Bangladesh's series with Afghanistan will commence on June 1.
