Sri Lanka were going strongly in the earlier the morning before Dane Paterson blow came in and bundled the visitors for 328 runs. One point they were cruising at 261-4 and soon they were all-out for 328.
In reply, Tony de Zorzi and Aiden Markram started fluently before the former one fell to Prabath Jayasuriya as the tweaker knocked Zorzi over on 19.
Markram then found hands with Ryan Rickelton and the duo added further 41 runs before Prabath Jayasuriya pinned on Ryan Rickelton on 24 off 45 balls. Markram brought up his fifty and then fell to Vishwa Fernando after scoring 55 off 75 balls.
Post that it was Temba Bavuma and Tristan Stubbs all the way. The duo stitched up together for a sensational 82-run stand which helped the Proteas stretch their lead to 221 runs with 7 more wickets in their hands.
South Africa have 7 more wickets in their hands and they've already gained a massive 221 runs on their board with their batting stocks still available. South Africa certainly have gained the ascendancy of the Test match.
