100th ton up for Sangakkara
Former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara has completed his 100th hundred in his career. The Surrey batsman achieved this amazing record against Yorkshire in Leeds in the second quarter-final of Royal London One Day Cup against Yorkshire. Sangakkara missed a golden opportunity of scoring six consecutive first-class hundreds couple of weeks ago. He smashed five tons in five innings for Surrey in the County Championship. He scored 84 against Essex in May. The former legendary left-handed batsman has taken the form into the one-day tournament. He hammered run-a-ball 121 runs hitting 9 fours and 4 sixes against Yorkshire at Headingley, Leeds in his side's quarter-final clash. It was his 39th ton in List A cricket. He was involved in a 180-run partnership with Ben Foakes for the fourth wicket. Sangakkara has now become the 37th batsman in the history to hit 100 centuries across formats - List A, first-class and Twenty20. He has 20326 with 61 centuries in 256 first-class matches (424 innings) and 19350 runs with 39 centuries in 526* List A matches (498 innings). But he does not have any century in the blockbusting T20 cricket (235 matches). Overall, the Lankan 39-year-old has played 1017 matches in his professional cricket career and scored 45650 runs in 1151 innings with 100 centuries and 239 fifties. Of these 100 centuries, 63 of them had been in international cricket. Sangakkara is the only active batsman to have 100 hundreds.
