The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) continued their strong form in IPL 2025 defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 26 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Saturday, April 12.

In what was expected to be a close contest Rishabh Pant's LSG proved too good for Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans securing another win at home.

After the match GT skipper Shubman Gill was candid about his side’s performance especially with the bat. He admitted that their inability to rotate strike in the middle overs cost them momentum, despite initially aiming for a big total.

“The wicket wasn't easy to hit from the get-go. The plan was that if one batsman gets set, he should bat 17–18 overs. But losing back-to-back wickets hurt us,” Gill said in the post-match presentation.

He also noted how the pitch conditions made strokeplay difficult and how GT lost control in the middle phase of their innings.

“Our strike rotation in the middle wasn't as good as we expected and it's something we need to work on,” he added.

Despite the batting collapse Gill praised his bowlers for trying to stretch the game into the final over.

“Yes, we were behind in the game but if we got 2-3 wickets, the match could go deep—and it did,” he said.

Gill mentioned that the dew after the 10th over made it slightly easier for LSG batters but still backed his team's approach.

“When you need 30 off 30 and the match goes to the last over, it’s a good sign that we kept fighting,” he noted.

After their loss to LSG, Gujarat Titans will now prepare for their next challenge against Delhi Capitals on April 19.
