Meanwhile, Younis Khan hopes that Jay Shah's appointment as the new ICC chairman strengthen ties between the two countries and foster a more positive atmosphere. The former Pakistani cricketer has positively greeted Shah's appointment, expressing a great deal of confidence that his guidance will uplift the global cricket.
"The cricket should uplift with the appointment of Jay Shah as the ICC chief. Jay Shah needs to show the sportsman spirit, as with the good initiatives of the ICC chief, India can come to Pakistan to play cricket. In the same way, Pakistan can visit India," the Pakistan's batting great was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
For the unversed, the last bilateral series between India and Pakistan was in 2012-2013. Pakistan toured India for a series consisting of 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is. The Green Shirts won the ODI series by 2-1 and the T20I series ended in a 1-1 draw.
It is worth noting that since then, both nations have only faced each other in multi-nation tournaments like the Asia Cup and ICC events. Interestingly, India got the better of Pakistan in the last three ICC meetings.
